Title
Inclusive planning and design for healthier cities
Plenary
Location
The Third Plenary will focus on how cities and mobility systems can be designed to include all and promote healthier lifestyles and greener cities. The panel will look into how urban spaces, infrastructure and transport systems can be made more appealing, comfortable and efficient, and the critical importance of safe and secure systems to accessibility and inclusive mobility. It will then reflect on the intersectoral cooperation needed to design policies for a healthier urban environment, linking mobility with urban planning, health, land use, housing, education and taxation policies. The speakers will be asked what lessons can be drawn from the COVID-19 crisis regarding promoting active modes for climate change mitigation, better air quality and healthier lifestyles. With increasing urbanisation rates, they will also examine how public transport can be enhanced and capacity increased to achieve our shared objectives of sustainability and inclusion.
